On Saturday, April 9, 2022, Glastonbury Rotary will help enhance local hiking and walking trails. A significant feature of the Town of Glastonbury, CT is Hiking & Walking Trails. There are 15 Trails within the town and all get significant use by town and nearby residents. Our Club has elected to work with the town’s Parks and Recreation Department to help maintain and enhance many of the trails and will begin early in the Spring season. We plan to highlight this activity at an event on April 9 to coincide with the Day of Service and include planting two trees at locations approved by the town.
Whether you’re in Rotary or not, we’d love to have your help for as much of the day as you can spare! Please sign up to volunteer, and we’ll be in touch.
Glastonbury Hiking Trail Enhancements:
- Clear trails of encroaching growth and debris.
- Identify major trees along trails and post Arboretum Tags on select trees to inform users and the benefit of maintaining trees.
- Provide benches for hikers along the trail and attach donation plaques to identify they have been provided by the Rotary Club.
Whether you’re in Rotary or not, we’d love to have your help for as much of the day as you can spare! Please sign up to volunteer, and we’ll be in touch.
