On Saturday, April 9, 2022, Thomaston Rotary will work with Thomaston Center School to renovate an old tennis court into a beautiful playground.
Thomaston Center School is an intermediate level elementary school containing students in grades four, five, and six. Center School serves approximately 200 students and has approximately 35 staff members. While our school is beautiful and is beloved by all, Thomaston Center School’s location, design, and age present challenges for a modern-day elementary school. Since our school is in the center of Thomaston and sits on a municipal road with minimal grassy areas surrounding the school, there is not room for students to play at recess.

The renovation of the tennis court, adjacent to the school, to a play area for Thomaston Center School students would provide an appropriate recreation space for students and would beautify this area in the center of town. Students could utilize this space every school day, weather permitting. Center School faculty and staff could also conduct outdoor classes in this space when not being used for recess purposes.
